Diffuse irradiance time series

This tool lets you upload your time series of global irradiance and generates high quality time series of diffuse irradiance.

Diffuse irradiance with close-to-natural distribution and variability will be calculated based on a algorithm described here.

It is free to use, and we are glad if you use it, but please cite:

Upload the data

Just paste your data in the textbox here, without timestamps.

  • The values must be in W or Wh
  • Local time must be used, without daylight saving time shift
  • There must be exactly
    • 8760 values, one value per hour of one year or
    • 525600 values, one value per minute of one year
  • Use a point as decimal separator
  • You can use a newline (\n), tab (\t), semicolon (;) or comma (,) as field separator

The values will be checked for consistency and synchronicity before synthesizing

Set the location

Select the location by clicking on the map.

Be sure to choose the right location. The algorithm needs to calculate the correct sun paths.

Calculate diffuse irradiance

You are ready to calculate. The full year of diffuse irradiance will be calculated and you will see 5 days as preview.

If you want to download the data, you can do so afterwards.

Get data

Please enter your mail adress here. You will get an email with a link to the website where you can see and download the calculated data.
